The Marketing Intelligence & Innovation Awards (MIIA) honour performance-based marketing results in regards to innovation, technical progress, efficiency and interdisciplinarity. Marketing is a performance-based management discipline and should be treated as such. Performance and analysis are the foundations of marketing. How can the classical marketing mindset be understood in the digital world?

The Marketing Intelligence & Innovation Awards (MIIA) apply to companies, agencies, associations, NGO, political parties, institutions and individuals in the field of marketing in the DACH region. Eligible are either the organisation (client: company, institution etc.) or the executing agency with details about the organisation. International organisations or agencies are eligible to apply as well. Please be advised that it is important that either the organisation or the agency are located in the DACH region or that the project was implemented in the DACH region.

All applications have to be submitted online via https://einreichung.miiawards.de/ until 20 July 2017, 23:59 CEST (Late Deadline: 14 September 2017, 23:59 CEST).

The application fee applies per project entered and per category. Until 20 July, 23:59 CEST, the first application is 290 Euro plus VAT and each additional application is 190 Euro plus VAT. During the late deadline between 21 July and 14 September 2017, 23:59 CEST, each application comes with a late fee of 90 Euro.

Please note: Tickets to the Awards Show, where winners will be announced, must be purchased separately.

We offer to have your application checked by our team (check of additional material, links, files, complete application form). Please note that we won’t check the content of your application (e.g. correct category, convincing strategy etc.). Participants are responsible for their choice of category and the content of their application. The entry check doesn’t guarantee a nomination or winning the Awards.

Any project created or published between August 2016 and September 2017 may participate in the competition.

The numbers of submissions are not limited. A project may be submitted in different categories. Each submission needs an official application. The application fee applies per project entered and per category.

After the application deadline, the Jury reviews all submissions and determines a shortlist of three to five nominees in each category. The shortlist will be announced at the end of July and the nominees will be informed immediately. In an all-day Jury meeting in Berlin on 30 November 2017, the shortlisted entrants will present their projects to the Jury. The Jury will determine the winners after the meeting has finished.

The Jury will evaluate the applications on the following criteria:

The Jury examines which impact the project/campaign has on the market.

The Jury will assess the strategic approach of each entry and the fit between the chosen strategy and the development of the project, as well as the integration of the various communication tools.


The Jury will consider the results of a project in relation to the stated targets, as well as the resources used towards achieving the results.


The Jury will assess the question of whether new technical or strategic methods were pursued and evaluate the creativity of the project both in concept and implementation.

Jury members can submit projects of their company. However, in the further voting process, the Jury member will not be part of the evaluation in the given category.

For each application, information about the organisation and agency (if applicable) is requested. Submissions will exclusively be digital. You can apply online by creating an account at our password protected intranet: http://einreichung.miiawards.de/


  1. General information about the project or campaign

Each submitted entry should contain the following information:

  • Summary of the project at a maximum length of 400 characters (including spaces) – Please note: This summary will be published when shortlisted.
  • Time frame of the project
  • Budget (not a mandatory field, information will not be published)
  • Number of employees who worked on the project


  1. Project Description

A short description of max. 2,000 characters (including spaces) must be provided including the following:

  • Initial situation leading to the project or campaign
  • Objectives of the project
  • Strategic considerations
  • Details of the implementation
  • Summary and measurement of results achieved


  1. Cover picture
  • A cover picture representing your project or campaign needs to be uploaded to each application (maximum 1 MB)


  1. Additional Material and Links

Accompanying materials are limited to three documents. Therefore, additional illustrative materials should be carefully selected. Examples of possible illustrative documents are planning documents, press releases, images, PowerPoint presentations (no more than 10 slides) and movies. One document equates to one file. In addition, you can specify up to six links to websites, social media platforms, intranet sites, or online videos.

The following formats are acceptable:

For texts: pdf

For images: jpg/jpeg, gif, png

For videos/movies: mov, flv, avi (in the highest possible quality, maximum 50 MB, under 3 minutes, or as a link to a website where the movie can be seen)

For presentations: pdf, ppt (Ideally you convert ppt files to pdf format; maximum of 10 slides)

After the final deadline for entries has passed, our Jury will review all submissions and by online voting, determine a shortlist per category. The Jury will evaluate your projects by impact, strategy, performance and innovation. All projects that receive a certain score will be nominated for the shortlist.

In an all-day Jury meeting held in Berlin on 30 November, the shortlisted entrants will pitch their projects with a 10-minute presentation to the Jury. The short presentation is an integral part of the application process, and is, therefore, a prerequisite for winning the Marketing Intelligence & Innovation Awards (MIIA). The Jury advises that the organisation/agency and the client present their project/campaign together. Please contact us if that’s not an option for you.

Winners will be announced at the award show on 30 November. Participation is not mandatory.

The tickets for the Award Show can be purchased after the publication of the shortlist. The first ticket costs 290 Euro plus VAT.

Participation at the Awards Show is not mandatory.

Winners and shortlisted projects of the Marketing Intelligence & Innovation Awards (MIIA) will be published on our website. Only the Jury is responsible for choosing the winners. All decisions are final. The winning projects will be confidential until the Award Show. The host maintains the right to move projects to another category if there is a more appropriate category than the original category.
